Tipped off by Goucher and others, the USADA investigated Salazar and the running team for about six years before handing down sanctions in 2019. None of his former runners have been charged with doping violations. Following a lack of commercial success with these albums, the group broke up at the end of the decade, with Hunter retreating into songwriting again. Remaining in Chicago, Hunter soon became a founding member of 1970s band The Hounds, who recorded two albums on Columbia Records.
